Lets start with the basics…

WHAT IS BIBLE QUIZZING?

BIBLE QUIZZING IS A Bible-memorization program developed for teens in Grade 7 to Grade 12. Grade 6’s are invited as underage quizzers and compete in a more limited way.  Our goal is to help teens connect with God in a deeper way by experiencing Him and expanding His Kingdom through his word

WHAT MATERIAL IS COVERED?

We systematically study and memorize books from the New Testament. Books are rotated in an eight-year cycle that starts with the book of…

  • Luke
  • I & II Corinthians
  • John
  • Hebrews and I & II Peter
  • Matthew
  • Romans and James
  • Acts (THIS YEARS MATERIAL)
  • Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, & Colossians

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO BE DOING THROUGH THE YEAR?

PRACTICES

  • Practices will take place weekly, on Mondays from 6:30 – 8:30 right here at Calvary Temple in Room 302.
  • Quizzers memorize parts of the Word throughout the week on their own. When we get together on Mondays we start our practice with quizzers quoting they verses they have learned to each other, to parents, or to coaches. We also use this time reviewing, and helping each other learn verses.
  • We regroup to share prayer requests and any weekly praise items with each other. This begins our Bible Study time to help the kids gain a better understanding of the scripture that they will be memorizing that week and ended in prayer.
  • But that’s not all. During our Monday meetings we then split into two groups. First year quizzers will start off with practice questions and working on jumping techniques. Returning quizzers will have a time of Memorizing games and activities to help strengthen their knowledge and to help each other grow and learn new memorizing techniques.  Then we switch, where first year move to games/activities, and returning quizzers practice technique.
  • Everyone comes together to challenge each other in one last practice Quiz
  • We try to end each quiz practice with a group game.

So that covers weekly activities. But in quizzing there are plenty of opportunities to travel to HUGE quiz meets with other youth from across Saskatchewan to Western Ontario. These meets vary in size & time, and are filled with great group games and activities. You’ll meet new friends, experience powerful praise-and-worship time, enjoy guest speakers, and most importantly participate in some seriously fun, competitive quizzing competition. Meals for the weekend are included in the registration cost and lodging is provided by volunteer billets from the host homes (screened according to CMQ’s Plan to Protect policy).

THE COMPETITION

CMQ’s competitive format includes three divisions, each one designed to meet the various capabilities and goals of each individual quizzer.

  • The A-division is the top competitive division and features faster jumping and more of an emphasis on questions drawn from ALL of the material studied.
  • The B-division is for quizzers with more than one year in the program who feels they are not ready to jump into A-division yet. In B there is slower jumping speeds and a more select amount of material from the verses being memorized.
  • The C-division is only for first year quizzers and allows the program to be introduced while focusing on key verses for that year.
